Of all the celebrity selfie trends, the au naturel #iwokeuplikethis selfie, a snap of said star sans makeup and glowing with the wonders of green juice and yoga, has been particularly popular of late. Like many great things, it's possible that this started with Beyoncé, thanks to her repeating of the phrase, 'I woke up like this', in her song Flawless, which is basically Christina Aguilera's Beautiful for the iPhone generation. 

Led by the singer/Queen of everything herself, who's posted plenty of fresh-faced pictures, there are now so many famouses in our feeds going beautifully bare-faced that it could even start to make us feel bad about ourselves. That or liberated. 

As #nomakeupselfie trended on twitter this week when the hashtag was commandeered to raise awareness about breast cancer, many of us seemed to find it freeing to show some face and it's nice to see some of the perpetually photoshopped keeping it real too. Even magazines are getting in on the action, with this month's British Vogue leading the pack with a (allegedly) make-up free portrait of Nigella Lawson.
