Is Anne pretty in pink? The panel is divided

You can tell a lot about a person by how they navigate a dress code. Here, Anne Hathaway has arrived – perky as ever – at The Pink Party 2013 wearing, wait for it – a bright pink dress! From this then, one could presume that the invite would have stated something along the lines of ‘think pink‘ or indeed, ‘pink and perky’ and Anne, ever the obedient head girl, has abided. Except, that’s really not how it’s supposed to be done. The real thrill of a dress code, is seeing how far you can flail from its demands. It’s asinine to follow it verbatim. So, ‘fashion week fabulous’ becomes a big old jumper with holes for thumbs and some nice pointy Zanotti heels. ‘Baroque and beautiful’ becomes minimalist and chic, and so on. Anne, you are pretty (and perky) but you are far, far too compliant.

This is one of those dresses that most of us wouldn't even take off the rail in the shop to have a closer look at, as it's so slight and shimmering and skinlike – you'd worry that you'd look like a lump in a luxury condom. On Anne Hathaway, though, it's brilliant – especially since she's had the confidence not to dress it up with jewels or a dazzling bag or feature shoes. Even her hair isn't making a fuss. In fact more I look at this picture, the more intrigued I am by how you can create such a non-girly look out of a pink mini-dress.

There is something a little too stark about this. It’s such a simple smock-like shape so I feel like she should really have gone all out with accessories but she just hasn’t: jewellery is minimal, the shoes and bag are quite plain. There’s just not much to it. I like her dimples though. I wish I had dimples to accessorise outfits with.
