New kid 1205 gets everybody talking
1205 caused a bit of intrigue today. We didn't know much about this new label, this was just its second appearance at London fashion week after a low key start last season. And its tight invite list served to pique the interest of editors.
Designer Paula Gerbase was previously head of design at Savile Row tailor Kilgour before launching the 1205 label. This explains everything. It's a pure example of mascu-feminine. Interchangeable men's and womenswear for a generation who shop at both. At the likes of Saint Laurent, The Gap, The Kooples, women shop regularly in the men's department. At 1205, any lines in the sand have been blurred.
The few men's looks here - and by that we mean those worn by men - were indistinguishable from the female variety. Understandably, tailoring and its proportions played a pivotal role. Funnel neck shirting, calf-grazing trousers and leather tunics prevailed. It was an ode to navy, and who doesn't love navy. This was fresh, clean and a very welcome addition to the London stable.
