Berardi keeps things sleek
Antonio Berardi has developed his high glamour look into something more sporty in recent seasons - from body-con to bomber jackets last season - and his autumn today collection continued that drive.
Make no mistake, this is still overtly feminine and sensual, hardly sportswear in its most practical sense. But the fishtail gowns, column dresses and skater skirts came with a techy feel in fabrication and cut. Panelled digi print shell tops were worn with asymmetrical minis, tuxedo jackets and cigarette pants bordered with glitter, wrapped, layered and encrusted with beads.
The sleekest and most sci-fi sculpting shift dresses came with peplums and cape sleeves, new touches to a Berardi classic that his core customers will go mad for - and possibly tap up for the red carpet.
Outerwear felt strong - in particular, a series of three grey wool coats, expertly cut to sexy sharpness (Berardi is a master of this) with pointed lapels and ruffled peplum detailing.
The Berardi customer needs no persuasion to stick with this brand - Antonio delivers their firm favourites season after season. Whoever said that Brits don't do glamour?
