What the Frock: Florence Welch

Florence Welch in Louis Vuitton at the Royal Academy summer party

This is one of just a handful of expressions Florence likes to pull when wearing this dress. The rest, she keeps close by in her handbag – always there in case someone says something 'alarming', 'surprising' or 'dreadful' about the dress.
Granted, brown isn't everyone's colour, but it's quite clear that Florence doesn't give a monkeys (also traditionally brown in colour).
The only slight design flaw is the gaping hole on the left hip (stage left). However – ever the professional – Florence has managed to hide this by adopting a casual give-a-sh*t attitude such that it's practically invisible.
This dress could only be improved upon if there was rock on the right hand side of the photograph as well – it's that gorgeous.

Too often when stars borrow pieces from designers for events, the look seems divorced from their own personal style but this velvet dress from the Louis Vuitton autumn/winter 2013 collection is completely Florence. It complements her pale skin and braided red hair perfectly and the accessories are excellently judged. Velvet meanwhile has been threatening a little comeback and this dress makes an excellent point for it; just look at how it reflects the evening summer sun.
Fred Butler, accessories designer
Florence always wears a dress to morph into her already existing instinctual style rather than the dress owning her. This is a very rare quality for musicians to inherently have. She's confidently timeless and gracious like a screen siren but with a contemporary cosmic stance. She's a walking Ophelia or Klimt gilded goddess for the dawn of a new era. This particular dress looks sleek and glamorous but at the same time comfortable and relaxed so she's going to have a great time wearing it. Go Flo!
