Our Aesop obsession knows no bounds

by

Some beauty brands illicit the sort of obsession that involves shrieking and crazy eyes. Before you’ve even read what one of it's products does or opened its weighty lid, you know you’ll want it; every single pot and jar and bottle you want gracing your bathroom shelf. Not many brands though, just a few, and one of those definitely comes in the shape of Aussie skincare brand Aesop.

Since its birth in 1987 it’s risen to become one of those quietly cool brands that everyone – men and women the world over – want in their wash bag.  Probably because it’s got that blasé apothecary style packaging, all metal tubes and brown bottles with glass pipettes. And also because of the sensational scents of each and every cream – refreshing mandarin, intense geranium and hundreds of other smells that lure in every curious person.

Not to mention the excitement of seeing whopper sized bottles of the stuff in restaurant loos or hotel bathrooms, like I did last week at Grainger and Co. in Notting Hill. I gasped with excitement when I saw the hand duo sitting discreetly at the side of the marble sink and proceeding to coat my hands in the contents of each bottle. I couldn’t resist two further bathroom visits before dinner was over – anything to get another fix.

"For like-minded Aesop addicts out there, good news comes in the form of a new outlet for the brand on King Street in Covent Garden." - Angelica Hermon

For like-minded Aesop addicts out there, good news comes in the form of a new outlet for the brand on King Street in Covent Garden. It’s only been open for a matter of days and has already seen fanatics from all over flock to its non-descript doors, entering the haven that lies inside. Washed white walls, shelves upon shelves of browns jars and the most beautiful green tiled, Italian floor I think I’ve ever see. The shop alone is worth a visit, though I defy you to leave empty handed.

Aesop's new store is located at 7 King Street, London, WC2E 8HN
